How to Hire a Car
For a person who has never hired a vehicle before the first time doing so may seem a little terrifying when in fact it is a very easy and routine procedure. Looking for a car rental agency with rates and offers that are attractive is very easy.
Nearly all major vehicle hire agency has an online website lately that makes classifying if they are the right company for your needs a basic task. Coupons and discounts are offered either right on the website or through other sources such as newspapers or magazines. Pick a rental agency with the type of car best suited to the purpose at hand and that gives the best rate. If the agency is currently offering any discounts consider that in your choice.
Once the company has been decided upon, make reservations (online or with customer service via the telephone. Either methods will deliver the same results. If the reservation is made online, have a copy of the reservation to bring along when the car is to be picked up. If it was a telephone reservation just write down the reservation number.
Be there early to pick up the car to allot time to process any paperwork, discuss rental insurance options and to pick out and inspect the car. If the person who is renting currently has an automobile policy they may be covered under that insurance. If not then getting rental insurance is a good idea. If a deposit is needed it will be taken at this time. Once the paperwork is complete and the vehicle has been picked out, make sure to check out the vehicle inside and out for any noticeable damage, items that may have been left behind by the previous renter or any cleanliness concerns. If there are any types of cosmetic damage or scratches, etc., make sure they are noted by the car hire agent to avoid being held liable. If something in the car needs to be cleaned, have them take care of that at this time.
When all paperwork and checklist items are finished, the car will be yours to drive for the duration of the rental contract. If the agreement states that the fuel tank must be full when the vehicle is returned make sure to do so. If the rental company fills it, the rate will be at a premium. Car rental companies normally have a biggest number of miles a car may be driven so be sure to abide by that term or an additional fee will be added. The terms and conditions vary with rental companies but are mostly simple to follow.
